Xplore Dundee is delighted to again bring festive cheer to the community by providing a free bus for a group of 60 young people travelling from Fintry to the Whitehall Theatre for this year’s Christmas pantomime.

The Community Learning & Development (CLD) Youth Team had secured funding for panto tickets but were unable to obtain funding for transport.

After being contacted by the youth team, Xplore Dundee arranged a free bus to take the group to the theatre and collect them after the performance, ensuring that all attendees could enjoy one of the highlights of the festive season.

This support forms part of Xplore Dundee’s ongoing commitment to the local community and its efforts to improve access to opportunities for young people across the city. By assisting community groups and helping remove transport barriers, the company continues to build a more inclusive and supportive public transport network for Dundee.

Stephen Riggans, General Manager at Xplore Dundee, said:  “We were delighted to support the CLD Youth team, who do fantastic work with young people across Dundee.
“We didn’t want the group to miss out on the pantomime, so in the spirit of the season, Xplore Dundee arranged free transport from the Finmill Centre to the Whitehall Theatre, making sure the show could go on.”

Carrie Livie from Community Learning & Development (CLD) Youth Team said: "The CLD East Youth Team provide one to one support, targeted groups and evening diversionary provision five nights across the Northeast & East End of the city for young people from primary 7 up to S6. We aim to offer a variety of learning opportunities, along with fun engaging activities to create experiences and memories for the YP we work with, as well as creating positive destinations for the older groups.

“I had applied to the Community Regen Forum for funding for the panto and had successfully been granted two thirds of the funding which meant we would need to look at funding for transport. I reached out to Stephen two years ago and he kindly offered the transport for young people to attend the panto. Therefore, I thought who better to contact than Xplore and reach out for support again, and we are really lucky they could help.  The panto is always an amazing way to end the year for the young people we work with, it creates a fun, enjoyable experience for them, and it is just a great way to end the year. I am extremely grateful to Xplore Dundee for being able to provide free transport to the young people and an amazing night was had by all.”
