Britain’s first purpose-built public observatory enjoys a magnificent woodland setting on the summit of Balgay Hill. Gaze upon the stars and planets through fully computerised telescopes, or admire the scenery with some spectacular treetop vistas across the silvery Tay. Astronomy is a truly mesmerising experience – with constellations, galaxies and a whole universe to discover.
Get there by bus: take services 6 | 17 to Balgay Road or service 22 to Blackness Road or Glamis Road. Go solo with a DaySaver, an EveningSaver after 6pm, or travel together with a GroupSaver. Remember: under-22s travel free with a valid NEC card.
